That being said, Kirk contributed to the state of things. He was a contrarian who capitalized big time on anger and discord. Both sides of the political spectrum hating each others guts and common ground being nonexistent is, in part, his doing. It's hard to feel sympathetic towards him given that's the world he wanted others to live in.
