nutrients aren't the problem, carrots need a nice light sandy loam soil to develop a big delicious taproot
soil was very clay heavy back in my old place, way too dense, you'd end up with little tiny misshapen carrot root
soil here is better, but low in loamy organic material, needs to be amended with good compost
you can actually compost human waste to use in that manner, but it's a much more intensive process to do safely than regular composting
