This is the only thing you said that is true. But it's also called a triage. If I needed emergency surgery to save my life from my appendix bursting they would operate on me immediately.
Actually that happened to me. I cam in with extreme abdominal pain and vomiting. Ran a few tests, said it's my appendix. I signed a thing and within 20 minutes I was under and operated on. 10 days in hospital + an IV antibiotic bag around my waist for 2 weeks. They saved my life and I didn't have to pay a cent out of pocket.
Same goes for broken bones. Seen within hours.
I also have a family doctor who will see me or talk to me on the phone within a week if I'm having any trouble at all. Never have to make the call to myself if I can afford to call the Dr about something potentially serious or not.
And like I just said if I really really wanted it right away and had $50k to spend I could always just drive across the boarder and pay for it out of pocket.
