>42,000+ deaths in fiery auto crashes last year
>100,000+ sustain serious life altering injuries last year.
>Billions in property damage annually.

>Just over 900 cyclists died in these United States last year.

"Anon why arent you wearing your magic styrofoam hat whlst cycling?"

This is not an "eat ze bugs" "live in ze pod" "stay tethered to your 15 minute zone" argument. Eat whatever the fuck you want, buy a mansion and drive all the fuck over the place. IDGAF what your vehicle runs on either be it diesel, unleaded, batteries, thorium or motherfucking french fry grease. I'm not that guy and this is not that thread.

How to stop the bloodbath on our nations roads?

>Just over 900 cyclists died in these United States last year.
Every year, around half that number are killed by their own (single-party) mistakes or by crashing into ohter cyclists. This "over 900" number also doesn't take into account where the cyclist was in the wrong when a car was involved. The number of cyclists killed by drivers where the driver was purely at fault is extremely low.

Bicycles need to be banned now. At the very least they need to be regulated and licensed and taxed for using public roadways.

Google AI says no:

"The percentage of cyclist fatalities where a driver is at fault varies by location and the year of the study, but generally, drivers are at fault in a majority of these fatal crashes. Studies and reports from various jurisdictions indicate figures ranging from a low of 49% (Minnesota) to 56% (Arizona) in some years, but also much higher numbers, such as 70% for specific age groups in the UK, and ~83.5% in an older study in Hawaii. Factors like infrastructure and driver attention significantly impact these statistics"

Cyclists do not cause wear and tear on roadways. Most cyclists have jobs and cars and already pay for taxes and car insurance.

Remove women's right to drive.

Force retesting every five years regardless of age.

New testing would include extensive highway testing and advanced defensive driving training.

Force all cellphones to become in operative once moving faster than 5mph.

Problem solved.

Passenger cellphones? Seems a bit draconian.

All cellphones? What if I'm using mine as a dashcam? What if I have to call a family member in an emergency?

Dash cam functionality will just become an eventual forced standard with all vehicles.

The only bad cyclist crash I ever witnessed the cyclist was tucked and blowing through a stop sign at like 45 mph from going down a steep hill and t-boned a car. 100% the cyclist's.fsult and for taken away unconscious on an ambulance.

In my experience cyclists ignore stop signs all the time.

I do that all the time too after I slow down a bit and make sure nothing is coming from the other direction. Its not like I'm piloting a 4,000 pound light armored vehicle. Its a bicycle and I can literally stop on a dime and give you 8 cents in change.

Also you drivers break traffic laws more often and I can bury you in links that back up my claim.

It doesnt matter who is at fault. Its people in cars making the situation dangerous for everyone on the road including cyclists, pedestrians, small animals and pets, road signs, store fronts. Living rooms. Office spaces.

You little 4 wheelers (cars) are the real menace to society as there is no more dangerous form of transportation to be found anywhere.

Except for base jumpers but thats really not a form of commuting and fuck those idiots. They're asking for it.

I absolutely never wore a bicycle helmet and will not change. I also do not drive as it is too dangerous IMHO.

Dont care what you think. Dont care about any disingenuous personal attacks. Its whatever.

Anonymous No.939816697

Anecdotal evidence. But where is the hate for dangerous car drivers? Why the hate boner for "these idiots" when you saw one or maybe a few cyclists behaving badly?

Why "all cyclists" when I know for a fact that plenty of them are fairly polite and just trying to get where they're going?

Why the bloodbath among you 4 wheeled tank drivers and how to fix that? Why are you dodging that question?

People in cars cause 18x the fatalities and you're here getting madbro at one cyclist. Make it make sense.
