That's the thing though: Any statement stops being "just an opinion" when you start lobbying it on a large scale to convert as many people to it as possible.

Let's say we have a person called Tom. He passionately hates anyone wearing a maga hat and tells everyone about it. He may even go as far to say that he wishes they'd all die. Most people would agree, that while he's a cunt, he's entitled to his opinion.
Now Tom begins making national rallies, and begins getting support by rich backers, holds lectures why everyone wearing a maga hat is clinically insane and how best to approach taking away their rights to fight back in case Tom and his friends may want to send them to concentration camps. Hypothetically of course. As a joke "haha".

Charlie boy fanned the flames for financial gain and fame. He had a negative impact on society because of it. Essentially, he made a deal with the devil, and the devil came to collect, regardless if he was ready or not. He went out fanning those very flames too.
