Kimmel's an asshole. We agree on that.
But that's not what Kimmel said. He said that MAGA is desperately trying to distance themselves. And point fingers. Which they are. And continue to do so.
The list is not a change in topic or blame, but examples - or evidence(!) - of the actions of people in the past week. Actions taken by those who claim to be part of MAGA. There's no argument there. No blame. Just facts.
No, actually. I expect people to react with emotion as they're allowed to do, but I EXPECT people on all sides to uphold the values that the victim and his followers claim to hold so dear.
Should people be calling for more violence in reaction to the murder? Calling for a civil war? Calling for the murder of trans people? Doxing people for making jokes? Ensuring people lose their jobs? No, these are all INCREDIBLY fucked up things to do.
Should people be making jokes about a man being shot? Claiming it was justified? Calling for more? Celebrating? No, these are all INCREDIBLY fucked up things to do.
BUT. We all have the ability to say what we want, right? That's what Charlie stood for, right? That we should all be able to voice our opinions in a public forum and be able to have a discussion?
Then let people flap their lips. Let Kimmel tell his fucking jokes. Get the fuck over it if you don't like it. That's the whole fucking point.
