I would close 90% of foreign military bases, dismantle/divest at least 75% of America's land-based military equipment and infrastructure (we don't need 8000 fucking Abrams tanks for a big dumb WW2-style blitzkrieg war that's neverever coming; and I say that as a tank-obsessed autist), and likely 50% or more of the naval and air assets (excepting both BM/attack subs and stealth fighters/UAVs, for deterrence purposes; maybe hold on to a carrier group or two), all over the course of several decades, and then funnel that trillion+ dollars of savings back into local programs and infrastructure, social programs, and supporting/developing areas in literally every other industry that's not military-industrial related. Basically the only things I wouldn't touch would be our nuclear triad, which fully prevents a WW3 scenario from starting anyway.

I would specifically like to use the budgets previously allocated to a couple carrier groups, and instead use it to fund a "sealab" style underwater research base as well as a couple of large nuclear-powered exploration submarines, to better map and understand life in the deeper parts of our oceans as well as better prepare us with knowledge of living in inhospitable and isolated environs before eventual lunar and martian colonization.

I would 100% be assassinated by the CIA/Mossad before I even got within a 1% of that goal, thoughever.

Possibly. Landlords are jacking up housing costs, boomers own too much property and are holding onto it causing a scarcity, also raising prices. My solution (assuming the ability to enforce it) is to address this gross imbalance and ensure that there are no homeless in my country. Too many military veterans sleep rough.

The housing problem is like a party of monopoly, it always end badly.
The real solution is a strong government that is self sufficient, strong enough to resist foreign invasion (either by migration or economic malice) and for that, you need to make sure that everything that is the most important for your citizen to be in your control (that mean finance, water/energy/food resource and of course, land and housing etc..).

If you don't control those, then anyone can come in and destroy your country from the inside.

Now the problem is that such government is so strong that if anyone malicious get in power you are fucked too, therefore, it need to have strong laws to prevent such thing to happen.

But yes, the housing market should be in control of the government and the money coming from it should replace the need of a taxing system which would obliviously boost your economy in the end.
