Not true. Your conflating Mestizo's with Native Americans. Mestizos (Natives mixed with European) never identify as Native Americans. They rather identify as Spanish or Mestizo.

Latino refers to people from Latin America, not a race or a single ethnicity. A white Brazilian, a black Dominican, a mixed Mexican and an indigenous Bolivian are all Latino. Meanwhile people from Guyana, Suriname and French Guyana (an English, Dutch and French speaking countries in South America) are not Latino despite being genetically the same as the surrounding countries.
