Look at your picture again.
there are four outboard engines on that.
lets assume they are the middle-of the range 200hp Mercury SeaPro engines. If they're not that exact model engines, they certainly look similar enough that we can use them as a reference. 200HP engines are more likely than a massive 500hp engines you see on really high-end speedboats, but enough for getting long distance, long duration travel. They're definitely not tiny little 50hp engines you get on river boats doing 2 knots.
those sort of engines are 10-15MPG in ideal conditions. On open water like the gulf, lets say 10mpg.
but there's 4 of them. Each running at 10 MPG. that means its 4x the fuel consumption of your numbers
that's not 175 gallons of fuel - that's 700 gallons.
