Wow, not bad anon… 3 groups for 20 minutes is a pretty lucky streak in an urban setting in my experience.
> Finally by the time I was meeting the third and final group coming down, I didn't care anymore since I was right next to our place and just powered through them.
Yep, I remember this feeling on my big night. After a while you get a sense of inevitability and also just tire of trying to hide and want it over with. I found the moment I started just shrugging and walking past people with my arms swinging at my side, it actually felt easier. The more you cover and hide and run, the more you look embarrassed and ridicule worthy. Just grinning and baring it is often the path of least resistance.
When those groups saw you, what did they say and how did they react? Were they at least gentle with you, or did they let rip?
> The first time, I tried to hide behind a pole but was immediately caught by them.
Haha I bet… not much cover there. On my runs and especially the one I mentioned, I hide behind cars or bins or walls mostly. Sometimes big trees help, but they’re rare to find on the street. There’s always the feeling of sheer terror when you hear someone approaching and look around for anything to hide behind or cover with… but you find yourself on a street with no parked cars, no bins or boxes or anything… and just closed buildings… that’s usually the time you have to say fuck it and take what’s coming to you!
Hiding is a risk though, because if you’re caught by people walking, you’re then basically trapped and definitely getting into a discussion with them. Just walking by them is more brazen, but if you carry on walking then it’s over with pretty quick… if they don’t follow you that is…
