Here's the reality... It's really one giant circle jerk. Everyone is a bully and everyone is bullied. Some bullies get beat by their parents and have low self esteem, then they go to school and pick on the weak kids, but then the weak kids end up making fun of the stupid jocks because they're academic failures, then the jocks take it out on the original bully because he's a loser, and the cycle continues.

There was a documentary about this in the 80s called Revenge of the Nerds.

That's not how it works at all.
I was bullied in kindergarten, and the only reason was cos I was the youngest kid there. They had put me in a group with older kids.
Then in elementary school I became the bully mostly as a method of self-preservation.
Then in high school I mostly kept to my small circle of 2-3 friends, but no one bullied me, and I bullied no one.
The bully-type kids in high school all became degenerate drug addicts.

That's why parenting is "show, don't tell". Kids imitate their parents, and all you're accomplishing by beating your kids, is showing them that's how you're supposed to act with weaker people, so they either turn on their younger siblings, or they become bullies at school.
