The meme modifying meme
The name-changing meme, or the meme-changing meme, among other names, is a meme whose name is continually and deliberately changed by the community that publishes it. It is self explanatory. Most of the terms that refer to the phenomenon describe characteristics of the naming andtransmission systems of the meme itself. A minority of the socially recognized names describe unrelated concepts, often coined by distributors at will in a competitive manner in the hope that they will be adopted by the wider community. A common associated joke is that no one seems to understand the meaning of the meme or why it is posted frequently. Sometimes when a phrase is strongly associated with the memeplex, the main images associated with it will be completely replaced by very different images, often seemingly at random. Many in the community consider that the face shown in the meme is generated by AI, and not that of a real person. Nicknames usually come up spontaneously for this supposed character.
