Whats a good brand of smallish gas powered chainsaw to buy? Looking for one with maybe 18" to 24" or so worth of chain on one side. More than I'll ever need but its better to have it and not need it vs needing it and not having it. Also want one thats very low maintenance.

I would just buy either a battery powered one or even a corded one with a long extension cord, but both my family and my wifes family are rather conservative and I'd never hear the end of it if I bought a battery powered chainsaw.

I know mixing gas and oil 10:1 or whatever is going to be a PITA but I dont have much chainsawing to do in the first place. Just a few maple saplings that have taken off these last 5 years or so.

Well you've got conflicting wants here. If you want low maintenance you buy electric. If you don't want to be ridiculed then you'll have to buy gas powered. There is no such thing as a low maintenance gas powered anything. Unless you're using it constantly the leftover gas will go bad. The filter will need replacing. And you'll have to keep everything lubricated.

I know. My family are a bit TOO far right. They used to go on and on about EV fires then I showed them the stats that prove ICE vehicles catch of fire 5x as often then they just looked at me like I'm the bad guy or something.

I forking hate political extremists. Its an appliance. Its not like I'm taking it to Chainsaws and Coffee or some shit.

You want a shorter bar length for that light purpose.
