You sure seem mad about the idea of people keeping what they earn.
You must be one of those people that lives off of the labor of others.

If you are employed by or are a customer of a publicly traded company, then a large portion of their capital comes from billionaire investors and without them they would need to scale down to account for the lost capital.

Realistically, (some) private corporatized businesses, Political Parties, the government would suffer but minimally, except if lobbying money ceases too.

none because the useful things that made them rich are still around benefiting society

the question is - what if they were never born to do things like make electricity vehicles batteries and space travel economical and popular?

the answer is a much worse planet. do you really think EVs would have happened without that guy? nobody wanted them or was working on them. we’d have hybrids now at best

do you really think nasa would be at space x level now?

becoming that rich is a reward for meaningfully moving the needle on the planet scale

Depends which ones, Musk in particular is a bit of a visionary. I don’t think our chances for expanding into space would be as good without him. Yes I know you’re very upset about the Nazi salute or whatever but you will get over it.

Billionaires make all the sacrifices, we just go to work. The only time you ever see them is when they're driving a Lamborghini. You aren't aware of how much they lose, unless they're Trump and you just use it to say he's incompetent. Have a good day, everyone.

you're obviously ignorant of the fact that Musk neither did invent nor prototye Tesla, and if you were right, the true inventors would be billionaires now

>things that made them rich are still around
like: DOGE stealing data from government agencies and feeding them into his AI-models capturing every US taxpayer, also looking into the contracts of all his co-competitors in the Military Industrial Complex and space businesses - which is actually what made him the first $-trillionaire EVER

>>942191851
>the answer is a much worse planet.
fuck you, NO

you're mixing up people who do actual work, inventing and producing things
and the people who get rich by piling up money, despite the detrimental social and environmental effects of their businesses (Musk later gutted the very agencies that had stopped him in harming others)
Musk bought himself a government and profited immensly from just that, not his shitty cars

Same with billionaires in general - two third of Congress members are funded by big pharma (which is an industry brining forth many billioaires)
the truth about the fentanyl crisis, for instance, is that it was big pharma who introduced fentanyl in the very first place by promoting it aggressively, turning hundreds of thousands patients into drug addicts and creating a market which drug barons willingly hopped into

and since the rich can pump as much money into every election since Citicens United this is how they create a business environment to get richer so exponentially fast as we can watch in the US now
it goes beyond corruption, even beyond SYSTEMIC CORRUPTION, as we can see it now in a 47 administration of incompetent figures, whose only qualification is BEING BILLIONAIRES or part of the rightwing media ecosystem, or both, and
THEY CAPTURED WHOLE STATE

look at how election campaign costs have risen into millions in the last two decades, and where the money comes from thats flowing into PACs ...

there are only about 3,000 billionaires in the entire world. if they all went missing, the only change would be that the competent upper level millionaires would recognize the gaps and become billionaires themselves.

Going private still requires acquiring capital. The very reason most companies are public is because it is easier to acquire capital when you are public. Plus, the stock market makes it possible for ordinary people to make investments.

Nothing Musk does or has done has ever gotten us closer to expanding in space. The chances of expanding in the solar system are exactly zero, Mars is not a credible candidate for terraforming at all, and the technologies needed to expand beyond have nothing to do with what Musk is doing.

Another day another thread full of posters who do not understand how severely they are cucking themselves for the biggest losers on the planet. For perspective, this year alone trump gave $5 trillion in tax breaks to the richest in america. We could pool the personal finances of everyone in this thread and we wouldn't get close to even covering the bottom layer of a pallet.

People always take it personally when that question is thrown around because they think they'll be limited at some point. Fact of the matter is that the world and money doesn't work that way. In both situations. You can't stop rare lucky individuals from becoming rich and most(none of you, all of you) will never become rich enough to bitch about this.

The problem with billionaires isn't that they got wealth. The real problem is that they spend it far less than they earn. A man can own only so many golden toilet seat and a golden toilet seat can only cost so much.

Honestly it seems like a good idea to set a wealth cap. Set it to 500 million or so. Incredibly high and more than enough to pass and play around with. A cap which shouldn't be reachable by any metrics. Enough to cover ownership of plenty of things including multiple factories or businesses. But enough to prevent needless accumulation of wealth and power.

Doing so would improve wellbeing in every sector of society as it would prevent economic winners from hoarding money in bank for nothing. This would force them to dodge 100% tax by re-investing in their business as to not lose value (ie. renewing the machinery every year), increase their business expenses (ie. hire more people) or buying good will of the people by donating money away.

I can't think of a good reason not to do this. Though, it's not doable because, you know, the billionaires don't want this and what they say goes. That and wannabe-billionaires feel ill when they hear about this.

None. Life would thrive.

A billion dollars is not comprehensible to human brains. No human should have a billion dollars. 1 million seconds is 11 days. 1 billion is like 30 years. Billionaires are indefensible.

It’s a symptom of a society lacking a moral center. Jesus spoke on the problems of wealth (camel & eye of a needle, no two masters, disciples thrived in Acts in a communist lifestyle). Other holy prophets have spoken about the problems of wealth inequality.

So how much money do you need to make before you deserve to suffer, and who decides that?
I'm not exactly mr capitalism, with a weird bodily fetish (all you libs like to accuse people of for some reason), I just dont understand your solution to the world where we just kill everyone with money because you think you work and sacrifice as much as them. Ok, everyone's broke and all the jobs are gone. Now what? Please make it make sense

The billion dollars didnt exist before the billionaire made it. This is a huge plot hole 20something marxists cant wrap their head around - they think of the economy like one giant pie were all supposed to be entitled to an equal piece of, whereas people like Musk or Trump bake more pies.
