Islamic theology teaches that many prophets were sent at different times and places, and that all taught Islam, but over time their teachings were corrupted. This is not a particularly unique concept, Zoroastrianism is much the same. Judaism while not outright stating this is rather similar in that God repeatedly sent prophets to correct the errors of the Jewish people.
