i'm coming to learn my close online friend of 5 years is a sociopath, he is at least respectful of my boundaries and secrets and we're both in our 20's, but he has admitted he doesn't see me as important but 'interesting' and fun to be around, we play vidya daily and talk for hours and i care about him deeply, i draw sketches of him occasionally, he likes the same things as me, i have cried over this and i feel i'm too overly attached to him emotionally, is it possible to remain friends and what precautions should i take? please help.

I had the same thing happen. it took a lot of trial and error but eventually I figured out what improved the situation for me: eating carrots. as long as I make sure to eat a raw carrot every day, it's all fine.

>i have cried over this
What the fuck, how gay are you? What the fuck is wrong with you? Sure, he comes across as a legitimate psychopath, because anyone that doesn't see someone "as important but interesting and fun to be around" despite playing vidya daily and talking for hours and sharing interests with is clearly not "all there", but legitimately crying over it is fucking weird.
>is it possible to remain friends
Dude, he's a psychopath, he doesn't have friends. They have pets. You're a puzzle to solve or a diversion to indulge in, not a friend.
>respectful of my boundaries and secrets
No he's not, you delusional fucking faggot. Snap out of it.

Trust issues or similar.
Don't let things go because of who they are to you. If something they do is wrong, genuinely get annoyed about it and respond accordingly, or they're going to have the expectation that you're just "fine with it".

This shit, it's immature behavior because they don't know how to confront or deal with adversion to their usual state of being. If you put up a small boundary when you don't like something and they have an impassable issue with it, they likely have that smaller behavioral system going on. There's a difference between an friend and an outlet.
