Well, it amounts to the same thing in practice though. But I think you're right. Look at very old videos of Biden when he was a senator. He was tough on crime, opposed gay marriage, etc. He was a moderate by Democrat standards. But that wasn't the president that we got. The old Biden probably died back when he had that stroke back in the 90s that damaged his brain. It was clear even back in 2020 that Biden wasn't mentally fit to be president because of how incoherent he was when he spoke. But people voted for him anyway only because he was Obama's sidekick.
