here's an interesting experiment:

light a cigarette with a candle
instead of using a lighter
light the cigarette with a burning candle

now look at the cigarette
look where the burning part meets the paper

You will see a ring of wet candle wax around the fire

wax will transfer onto the cigarette

and every time you take a puff, the wax continues melting and moving farther down the paper

well... That same transfer of wax happens microscopically in the air

with every breath you take

It doesn't seem like any wax would get on the cigarette

because the cigarettes not touching the candle

It's only being inserted into the fire

But the wax actually transfers through the fire and directly onto the cigarette

And anybody who lights a cigarette with a candle is smoking candle wax, coating their lungs with a microscopic layer of wax

well, the same thing happens just from breathing in the same room with a lit candle
