How warm is the climate? Does your car function well? Is the house beyond help?
Hypothetically you have a place to repair your car and camp out.
Obviously you need income to get things done. Start working, you need income.
Get rid of all the garbage and close off broken windows and doors. Dumps aren't free and neither are boards and nails.
From there you need to clean every surface, if there is terrible rot and filth hopefully you can just cut it out.
The idea is the sooner you can get the air breathable/safe and a bathroom working, the sooner you have a real home base.
You can cook on a propane burner and do the dishes with a basin and garden hose if the kitchen is not working.

The real upside I see, is that if you own a house, you dont need any employable education/skills. As long as the place isnt condemned you can increase its liveability week by week. If you create something you can live in, any lazy podunk job keeps you floating. Not that you couldn't aim higher.

Climate isn't so bad. It's a bit fickle. And the summers are too hot, the winters too cold.
The winter is way worse, there's no heat and there's holes in the roof and walls, so it gets as cold in here as it does outside.

I kind of do think the house is beyond help, but only in the sense everything would need to be rebuilt.
