Did he not buy the premium model? Or bother trying to host the LLM locally? AI isn't ready for the lazy every man to just endlessly use it. It's still in a beta phase. You have to do work to make it work like you want.

And either way, even before you could work around this, simply copy-paste all the chat history in a doc, and send the doc to a new chat and tell the AI to "remember" its older personality.
