Actually it's crazier than that. In Godfrey Higgins' Apology To Mohammed, he comprehensively PROVES that most of the Koran was invented later and that Mohammed himself was a Christian. Islam was essentially invented by Mohammed's father, who being the idol keeper of the pagan Arab idols collected in the Kaaba, was in position to relate and translate their lore into the new system.
