run on hype and culture for 3 months and spread by word of mouth, doesn't matter how actually good the games are
most people will move on from each game within a month. the "whales" who pay thousands in microtransactions can be milked the same way superfans of movies used to be milked using merchandise and collectible toys.

a big difference is there's no movie theater involved, but normies might still make plans to play a game together over the weekend the way they would plan to go to the movies.
