One must prepare for water. It'll be the first to go and It's second only to Air. You need clean water for
>Drinking
>Cooking
>First aid
>Hygiene

You need to aim atleast
>2l in survival kit
>500l storage in apartments
>2000l in small homes
>5000l in large homes

If you have proper filteration methods you can count all the water potable : suitable for drinking.

Each person needs atleast 5l water daily for survival. Calculate on based of that.

I'll continue in comments

This is my filteration kit for BOB
>Sawyer mini with backflush
>Lifestraw
>Purification tablets
>My diy prefilter to increase life of sawyer and lifestraw. It removes everything until small clay particles.
>A small funnel

I'm still finding
>Good 6 mm pipe to make gravitation system . Pvc pipes start leaking oil from their material
>Steripen (too expensive)

Although all in all you should have these as bare minimum in your home. Try to carry a filter in your edc kit

You need to Get an RO filter for your home. For large volume filteration. It must have a carbon filter as well as UV disinfection.

Do not buy overly complicated builds with circuits and AI etc. They fail early and hard to repair. But simple kits with filters a pump and UV tube.

Don't buy systems with LED UV disinfection. All those led are fake.
Your system should have a fluorescent UV tube . I prefer philips and Osram. You can get the datasheet online and you can check their exposure with simple banana test.

Yeah you can just get any container and fill it with any water, use some clear plastic sheeting and some finagling or glass, and make an evaporative distiller that can output a pint or more an hour here in FL.
Also, making filters isn't hard either. Purifying is easy if you have bleach, peroxide, or do like I do and have some potassium permanganate around. You can generate chlorine or chloramine, you can use silver or silver salts, all kinds of ways to make/purify fresh water.

If you don't know basic chemistry and engineering skills, learn them. They're more valuable than all the prepper shit you could ever stockpile, because you can make all kinds of useful stuff from seemingly useless bullshit.

Water comes out of the sky. Any arid regions already have water storage systems so they are good. Apartment dwellers may have issues and storing 2 tonne of water inside a small apartment will be hard anyway, if not totally impossible.

If you're in a humid environment you could run a condenser tube (same as what cools your fridge or AC) and collect the condensation off that. It should be relatively clean.wYMHG

Don't rely completely on distillation. You'll need to save fuel, avoid heat signature and faster methods. It also needs to be passive.

Depends on your needs, will the water be potable before you filter it? If not you need to make it safe first with something like a Sawyer TAP filter. A prefilter of some kind would be a good idea of the water comes from a lake or stream or something. After it's potable you can use any standard household filter you want to make it more palletable.

I'm not saying that you're wrong. It's best to have storage in your home and that's basically the theme of the thread. I'm just saying that don't drink it directly if it has been sitting for too long.

Rv hookup carbon filters, they are cheap and will clog quickly with cloudy water so get extras. Other options might be an inline sediment filters for people who live on well water or something of that nature. Low tech solution would be a pool filter bag or piece of fabric on the intake. Sawyer filters require backwashing as well but easy to do with a water pump.

Reverse osmosis cures all ills and is available at any home improvement store. It's just a lot to set up and you have to trust your mineral pack supplier.

Daily use in what context ? Edc filter or installing in your home's water supply. In any case you need activated carbon filter. Fluoride will be adsorbed in activated carbon . They have a life so once your carbon is saturated/exhausted you'll have to replace it.

>Anything suspended is removed by filteration.
>Most of dissolved gases and metals can be removed by activated carbon
>For hardness/salinity you need reverse osmosis
>For disinfection you need UV/ chlorine.

There are various ways to make a solar still from the basic emergency plastic sheet and a tin can in a hole in the ground to a something more involved you can make cheaply and scale up to make as much clean water as you want and it'll do the job as long as the sun is up and cost almost nothing.

Charcoal isn't hard to make over a fire with a container. All limited use.
Fluoride is not attracted to carbon so removal should not be relied on with carbon filters. Flouride is a poison which sterilizes surface bacteria good and bad. That is why you don't swallow toothpaste. Usually sodium fluoride.

The main thing that filters is the hollow fibres. I don't think that these cheapos have genuine long lasting filters.
>May not have proper filter pore size
>May be defective or cracked fibres
>Poor material. May work today but ruined after a year.

You can cheap out on knives, flashlights, bags and such things because you can see the results in their case and failure won't kill you.

But in water filters you cannot actually identify whether the filter has failed or is there some contamination passing through some crack or unglued part. AND it can lead to your death.

Save money elsewhere. But buy a genuine water filter. Maybe a MSR or katadyn.

Don't see others, see yourself. People get acclimated to their surroundings. Some people are unaffected by tasers, some feel no pain from pepper spray. But that's not a basis for decision making.

If you have disinfection tablets, that's good. With a cheapo filter only thing I could believe is that it will remove turbidity. But pathogens, giardia, protozoa etc. no I don't think these clones can remove them. Maybe they can, maybe they cannot but it's not enough to bet your life on.

The issue is not chinese. The issue is no brand. I cannot see a brand in your image. Many premium things like fenix, nitecore etc are made in china. But the brand gives the assurance of quality control. No name no brand products are just stock clearance of unfit, failed materials.

90% chances your filter is fake. You're in france, unlike me. You should have access to better, premium solutions starting from 25$ . Look into lifestraw and sawyer and if you hve money go mor US made MSR filters

be careful with buying anything life-critical on amazon.
