right now, a nuclear war would be best for us
we could actually win it. we might lose a few west coast cities, but those are disposable and worthless politically. our economy would be hit bad, that's all.
a conventional war is another matter. our own public sentiment derailed our efforts in vietnam, afghanistan and iraq
those weren't even major powers, and we had near unlimited resources to bear.
china is much more of a peer in terms of resources and industry. we would rather not have a long drawn out war against them. that's all i'd say
