For instance let's take rock and metal - UK, Germany or Sweden have done so much more and have much higher output compared to americans (Scorpions, Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake, UFO, Europe, Schenker, Malmsteen, Gary Moore) heavy/doom/power metal (Candlemass, Accept, King Diamond, Mercyful Fate. Blind Guardian, Running Wild, Gamma Ray, Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica, Rhapsody) or extreme metal (Bolt Thrower, Napalm Death, Bathory, Kreator, Opeth, Dissection, Emperor, Dismember, Edge of Sanity, Pestilence, Septic Flesh, Hypocrisy, Children Of Bodom, Gorefest, Nasum, Cripple Bastards, Agathocles, Mayhem, At the Gates, Sacramentum, Summoning, Katatonia, My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, Falkenbach).
Electronic music - UK and Germany are the birthplaces of innovative electronic genres (new wave, industrial, techno, dnb, IDM, hardcore, downtempo, trip hop, glitch etc.).
Jazz - again, UK gave us McLaughlin, Holdsworth, Soft Machine, Bruford not to mention that many "american" musicians were raised in Europe such as Jan Hammer, Miroslav Vitous or Joe Zaniwul. Even pop music is far better than fake shit made in USA (ABBA, Kate Bush, Bjork).
European music feels more genuine and tied to its classical and native roots while american music is either gimmicky, immature, superficial, vulgar, degenerate, sexual, visually oriented or it's just another vehicle for propaganda and global trends. Why does American fall behind despite being richer and more influential? There's another aspect which american music is devoid of - elegance and sincerety. It's literally made for the sake of competition or cultural subversion.
Oh, and let's not even mention classical composers because USA doesn't even have one haha.
