Your robot arm can be customized to shoot flames/electricty or be a straight up gun among other things but they're more of a subweapon while melee takes the main focus. idk if you could viably play through the whole game with just the arms.
The weapons system is actually pretty cool where it's not quite the trick weapon system of bloodborne, but every weapon comes in two pieces, the hilt, which represents your moveset, and the blade which is your damage type, and you can mix and match weapon pieces to create new weapons, like a knife handle on a greatsword's blade for one handed slashes, or sticking the head of a hammer onto an engine glaive handle for heavy booster strikes.

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time. While the story is a bit boring and childish, the gameplay and mechanics really shine and keep you engaged, and the multiplayer is really well implemented this game compared to the 3ds game. Definitely a really good game, and honestly a good contender for GOTY for me. However, it is the only game I've bought this year.

It's honestly so fun to play. Treasure groves are really interesting and Gino is pretty fun to run around in, my only complaint about Gino being it's a bit of a grind to level up the different areas, but it doesn't feel like much of a chore and IIRC you only need Rank 5 for the rare material spawns in each area, anything higher is just to increase levels.

Quick list of Final Fantasy games.

IV, V - Good.
VI - Amazing.
VII - Amazing. I don't care, I'm in love with FFVII.
VIII - Bad. Painful to play. Tried twice, never finished.
IX - Amazing. An absolute gem, I'm surprised it didn't pop off as much as VII.
X - Amazing when I was a teenager. Now I like it a bit less, because Tidus is cringe af. The rest of the characters are based tho.
XII - Good.
XIII - Good.
XV - One of the worst games ever, avoid like the plague. Burn this shit.
XVI - Based, I loved it. As much as I absolutely despise "medieval fantasy" setting in games or books, this one was amazing.

as someone who's played them all (except 2) i would say you should start with the one you like the theme more, 1, 3, 5, are more "medieval" like, meanwhile 6,7,8 are more industrial like, 9 then goes back to being medieval and has a ton of references to older final fantasy games, 10 is more modern and it's considered one of the best final fantasy games, i personally really enjoyed final fantasy 12 a lot, i would recommend starting with 10

Ehh, difficult to decide. Each game is different. Nostalgia plays a huge factor, so I'm gonna go with VII. I know it might be a bit overrated, and the story can be a cluster-fuck at times, especially with so many games in the franchise and Remake and Rebirth changing shit up, but still, I've got plenty of good memories with that one. Although XVI comes pretty close, that game was flawless, one of the biggest surprises in my recent gaming years.
