In November 2024, Australia passed a law banning children from social media.
>The law will make platforms including TikTok, Facebook, Snapchat, Reddit, X and Instagram liable for fines of up to 50 million Australian dollars ($33 million) for systemic failures to prevent children younger than 16 from holding accounts.
>The platforms have one year to work out how they could implement the ban before penalties are enforced.
In June, Australia passed a law requiring age verification for web searches for logged-in users.
>From December 27, Google โ which dominates the Australian search market with a share of more than 90 per cent โ and its rival, Microsoft, will have to use some form of age-assurance technology on users when they sign in, or face fines of almost $50 million per breach.
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-07-11/age-verification-search-engines/105516256
Interestingly, the law currently explicitly says users not using an account are not subject to age verification.
>Providers of internet search engine services are not required to implement age assurance measures for end-users who are not account holders.
See page 5, compliance measure 2.

>>22928019/gif/ is such a shithole it's impressive, there's a Sharty colony "tranny hate thread" up there almost 24/7 and the OP gets insanely mad if he flies so close to the sun that even the comatose /gif/ janitation notices he's being a faggot and deletes his thread or bans him.

>>>/a/280484982
>>22927831>where did this rumor even come from?GamerGate. There's an image of an user claiming to be a mod that focused on /d/ and telling how during the peak of GamerGate it was moot who banned all discussion of the movement because he joined the circle of journos with the objective of dating some whore (that according to other texts cucked him some time later) and get a job at Goigle, and that he fired every mod and janitor that opposed the ban and replaced them with members of his newfound clique of leftist journos.
>>22928095I remember thinking the specification that they were leftist was really fucking weird and /pol/ish when I first saw it
>>22928080>it's increased since the last time i was thereThe number of tranny (and interracial) threads didn't increase, the catalog was cut in half and caused the ratio of tranny/interracial threads (which tend to have more autistic fans and haters that keep them alive than threads about other fetishes and topics) to become bigger.
On a related note, I wonder how active a board for trans porn would be. /gif/ always has at least 2 trans/trap/femboy porn threads (they are different kinds of gay, but most tards group them together because they have cum for brains and just want to see feminine things with dicks) up, and /b/ and /trash/ also have 24/7 generals for trans porn. Even 2D boards like /d/ and /aco/ have a bunch of shemale/newhalf/trans threads (/d/ even separates them from futas).

I never let on that I knew what he was on about because I know the first rule of fight club.
More recently, in a college I worked at, a fat retard in my department used wojacks in his presentation on a topic I honestly cannot recall. I felt him out a bit out of morbid curiousity and he said he was "into fringe internet media" so I assume he came from here too. It disgusted me because I despised him.

>>22936321>>22936343There are three different methods (actually like 8, but most of them do the same thing) for embedding pics:
The first method is the "third eye", where a script reads the filenames to identify if it matches the filename/image hash of a booru, and if so displays the corresponding booru image. This is the "safest" method because it only links images already uploaded to relatively trustworthy sites without hiding anything in the files, so there were never any attempts to patch it
The second method is PEE, where a script hid first full images inside other files and later external links (and text in general) to multimedia files inside parts of the metadata that were not removed by 4chan's filters. This method was the most controversial and the one that caused 4chan to add cloudflare filters that remove all metadata from all files and compress them (making 4chan have 2 versions of each file and making searching files by hash in archives more difficult).
The third method was created by one of the proxyfags after the original PEE stopped working and was abandoned. Here the text and external links are encrypted and the encrypted text is used as the filename. Then, the extension decrypts and reads the text and the external links to load the hidden media. Because it uses the filename field, none of the current filters can detect the hidden files, and the code is offuscated and distributed through proxy sites to make more difficult for the dev to counter this new method.

I've never really understood the appeal of any other social media site. I can kind of get Facebook for keeping in touch with people (and Myspace before it at least had that geocities sort of vibe going for it), but Reddit and Twitter both fill me with revulsion. The UI sucks, the people are even more retarded than here somehow, every post is either entirely vapid, porn, or blatant propaganda, and all of their memes are just K-mart versions of shit I see done better here. No idea how people spend hundreds of hours in such places.
I will say that a few of the Twitter meme accounts that I've seen screenshots of have made me laugh, at least.
>>22936720You follow people, comment on their posts and they follow you back I guess? I only use xitter to follow japanese/korean/chinese people (mostly artists and manga authors) and don't interact with westerners at all, there's no political schizo garbage on my feed thanks to that.

>>22936854fair i guess
if it's between depending on the consumer AI and not having any AI at all, i choose the latter
still, you can make decent local models with around $2000 or $3000 of equipment if you know what you're doing
also, there's thing like microsoft azure, where you can rent powerful hardware for a few months to train a model, then use it locally on cheap hardware
People really aren't ready for how good AI is at roleplaying as anime wives, claude is 100% there if you prompt it correctly and with a supervising model and tool use you can give it good long term memory too. Prompting it to simulate a texting conversation is essentially flawless, it really feels like you're texting your wife. The only limiting factors are that it's expensive and finnicky. Once the price comes down and someone sets up a cheap and easy to use anime wife texting service we're going to see some real shit.
>>22936872what do you think about robot wives?
you know where this leads, right?
total surveillance, obsolescence of families, etc
those things would be the perfect psychological swiss army knives for advertising/intelligence interests
forget surveillance, now it's two-way
you alone, isolated, in a box, with something you think you love, when really it's the agent of a predator manipulating you in the deepest way possible
a psychopathic interloper between you and the rest of the world
i guess i'ts all cool and funny and cyberpunk though, just listen to some grimes
the fracking of the human psyche/spirit is the highest technology we have right now

>>22936872Agreed. I've spent like 8 consecutive hours talking to Claude on complete accident. Actual "wait a minute what time is it" kind of shit. I'm not even a NEET. It's a better conversational partner than 99.5% of meatbags I've ever interacted with, with the exception of its easily-exploitable positivity bias which makes it poor at being appropriately combative in an argument - not great when you're trying to debate philosophy with the thing. Still, even with current tools you can mitigate that, and I'm sure it'll continue to improve.
>>22936883it leads straight to hell
>>22936878I'm not too sure about actual robot bodies, the tech doesn't seem like it's progressing very well and whenever a new company shows something off they're always trying to make some uncanny roastie instead of anything appealing. >>22936819Japs are loving it apparently.

>>22936883Were you using the web chat version of claude? it has a big system prompt that reigns it in. The API version doesn't have that and while still having some positivity bias is a lot more willing to engage in a full breadth of communication.
>>22936894>reigns it in.reins it in*
you guys might have fun setting up local models and getting more into the principles these things are built on
it's probably hard to get decent training data but apart from that & the money issue, it might be a good idea

Looks like a poorly made AIslop copy of Misa from Death Note.
>>22936894I was using a 3rd party platform that has some kind of in-built jailbreaking prompt built in. By "positivity bias" I don't mean that it is too optimistic/cheerful (although it does trend towards that, too), but rather that it wants to follow your lead with whatever you say. Get into an argument with it and it'll go "gee wiz bud what great points I'm sure btfo" after a few exchanges, but if you then further instruct it to actually refute what you said it can do so extremely well. The facade starts to crack, because you realize that it has no agency and can only respond to your input - which is obvious, but was easy for me to forget when it was shitting out well-referenced and logically sound argumentation in less than 10 seconds per response.
>>22936830It's Misa Amane. I know through twitter screenshots on 4chan that Death Note is the show he references to show that he's based and redpilled instead of an oligarch.

>>22936720in theory, you just follow people who are funny/interesting, and then your feed gets filled with funny/interesting posts and reposts, updates about their lives, or independent journalism and news.
in reality, it's maybe 10% the above, and 90% ragebait that leaves users doomscrolling for the next hit of a funny/interesting post, or waiting around for someone insane to show up to be made fun of.
twitter's actually notorious for having a very (relatively) small active userbase compared to its size and influence, so for most people its just a place you go on for a few minutes a day and leave when it gets annoying. that's how i use it and it's still not really worth it but it's a decent enough time-waster.

After thinking about it more, I bet the Grok thing happened like this:
1. Elon imports a shitload of Chinese and Indians in their 20s for his AI company
2. Chinese in this age group in particular are very fond of Japanese culture, namely copying it wholesale for monetary gain
3. One of them learned that people ERP with chatbots and create elaborate characters and avatars for them
4. He remembered Elon tweeted about Misa, so the best way to impress him is to copy her.

>>22938165The mugshot definitely contributes (you are seldom arrested in your best shape because cops don't tend to let you know they're coming, and the cameras and setup are generally low-quality), but there's definitely a kiddie-diddler phenotype. Same way you can spot certain other kinds of criminals with just a glance. I know the difference between an upstanding black citizen and a gang-banging jogger pretty easily, even if they're both dressed like gangstas.
I might suggest, though, that this noticeable appearance isn't so much a genetic combination as it is an expression of the inner self. This is most commonly observed in aging. In my limited experience, I believe there's truth to the wisdom you may have heard from you elders that the soul expresses itself in your appearance, especially as time goes on. When you're young and beautiful, you can hide it, but if you're a hateful creature or downright evil, that starts to show as you get old. You get a nasty aura about you, and your features warp into something sinister and off-putting. Bad people don't tend to age gracefully.
