Forgot to respond to this part. None of them really ask about it. I'm an electrician by trade, I've been doing automation/controls shit for a while now. Nobody really seems to care about the gaps. Once you've got 10 or so years under your belt in this industry, they just want verifiable employment history that shows you know what the hell you're talking about.

As a follow up. I started for a company that mass outsourced their IT support. I just rushed certificates as quick as I could and I took on any chance to be a system admin/Network admin.
