>>22979511That was a mess of a deal. They had sold two mines to a private company and their counterparty just decided to not pay for the mines, citing some BS reason like "uhh EDV lied to us lol", so EDV pressed charges. But then Burkina Faso stepped in, probably decided that they would not wait for years on end for the resumption of tax payments while this shit gets sorted out so they expropriated those mines for some pathetic payment like 2x EBITDA or something. The political leadership took the opportunity to do a victory lap and all the AI voiceover African hypernationalists online lauded it as "taking back muh gold stolen by le evil white man".
>is this just a white manโs trick to please the warlords with some shitty asset?I think that may be the case. Endeavour could have chosen to go into international arbitration but they agreed to these terms. I tend to think that this was their corrupt way of securing social license to operate. Politically correct way to keep mining in Burkina Faso perhaps. Or maybe they will turn up one day and say Endeavour's remaining two mines in the country are now black man's property and the stock goes down by 30% at open, at which point I would buy shares again.
