I'm 43, have wonderful wife and kids and I'm pulling around half million of złotys annually. My 85yo father is really nice guy, I love him and he loves me, but I've never heard from him that he's proud of anything I did. If I ever cared about that stuff I'd be depressed, but I don't because I know fathers will never be proud of their sons. They see their sons as their direct continuation and because of that sons will always be a failure just for the fact they're something different.

Trying to please your father will only make you miserable. For sake of you long term relations with you father, don't do it.

Back in 2011 my father told me it was stupid to invest heavily into cryptocurrency. I didn't listen and invested $4,000 into Bitcoin. Now he tells me I'm selfish for not helping my brother and his infertile, obese wife have a baby by paying for their IVF. He also tells me Bitcoin is causing hyperinflation and is the reason why everything costs more nowadays. That I'm part of the problem.

Dad died from degenerative brain condition back in 2009. Barely knew him. Was never really around cause he was a long haul truck driver. So don't know or care if he'd be proud of me. He was pretty much a complete stranger to me most of my early life.
