I grew up on a 5 speed mustang I bought by working from 14-16, but modern automatics are both faster and more fuel efficient now. I still enjoy a manual, but they're objectively worse transmissions currently.

Also most American roads are straight lines and 55mph speed limits so basically just get to the final gear and set the cruise. Stick shifts are for fun but having one as a daily for a decade, I wouldn't want it as my only option.

It is when you drive daily in the capital or big cities with heavy traffic and you have to operate the gearbox every picosecond.I drove a manual for about 10 years and I wouldn't go back, maybe just as a hobby on the track, but the automatic is much superior.

It's really not, unless it's a huge fuck up by the manufacturer, manuals are just simpler, while modern 10 gear autos are all kinds of fucked up, I'd agree that an old hydramatic or a glide is robust tough

Machines exist to make human life easier. 120 years ago people first heard about being able to fly. Electricity was just starting to be adopted on a widespread basis in homes. 100 years ago the first bombs were created and about half the houses had electricity. We became able to call someone and speak in real time across the world.
Today we are in a technological stagnate time with machine advancements slowing down in making human life easier. We have fags like yourself arguing that being able to do a low technological task somehow makes you superior to others. Whatever we can automate should be automated to allow for an easier human life across the world. I get wanting the option to have it in your vehicle and we have manual for people still wanting it.

Sure, but handbrake is not neccessary, just leave it in gear and it won't roll.

Rest is fine. I don't even like to drive manuals, I have drien them but they're legit more work to do to get to point A to B so I prefer automatics. Only low IQ people care about such things.

>Car will start in neutral without the clutch.
Not anymore. Most new cars you have to depress the clutch to engage the starter.

most modern manual transmission vehicles require you to depress the clutch pedal to engage the starter. This is a safety feature to prevent the car from lurching forward or backward when starting if it's left in gear. Without this safety mechanism, the car could start and immediately move, potentially causing accidents.

Most modern military vehicles, including trucks like Humvees, MRAPs, and many logistics vehicles, utilize automatic transmissions. However, some tracked vehicles, like older tanks, might have "manumatic" or manual transmissions, and some older vehicles still in service may have manual gearboxes.

Literally everything you posted is incorrect. A performance DSG needs a lot of software just to be able to shift exactly when driver wants especially on downshifts. Most DSG cars on the market will not downshift on command. Thus if you really want full control of the vehicle you need to drive a manual or be able to afford a porsche GT product. They are OBVIOUSLY way more complex and harder/more expensive to maintain and they are heavier. Stop posting nonsense.

Back then they tried a different method called "the neutral safety switch" where the car had to be in neutral to start. This caused more accidents than it prevented. Power brakes don't work until the engine is running. So people would pull the car out of gear to start the engine, and if they were parked on an incline, the car would immediately roll. Instinctively people would try to jamb it back into gear, but with the vehicle in motion.. grind.

My driveway is a 10% incline, so I rarely use the starter. I just pop the clutch. The clutch safety switch does not stop the engine from starting, it only stops the starter motor from engaging.

Manuals are outdated tech at this point. My last two cars have been manual. I prefer the driving experience of a manual. But there is no reason for them anymore, besides being more fun to drive. Manual actually gets worse MPG and are slower than modern automatics. Manufacturers are offering less and less manuals, and honestly, why would you buy a slower and less efficient vehicle just because it's more fun? I mean, I would. But I love cars and motorcycles. 98% of people don't give that much of a fuck.

Growing up, manual was superior to the shitty automatics. But it's not the case anymore.

My mother's automatic transmission (F*rd) has had to undergo major repairs twice, and the second time they charged her $4500 because the stealership had gaslighted her that "it's not the transmission" until the replacement-under-warranty-because-of-defects period ran out.

Automatic transmissions break down. They are complex systems with many moving parts that can wear out or fail over time. Common causes of failure include worn-out clutch packs, incorrect or dirty transmission fluid, overheating, and electronic or hydraulic system issues, they are prone to leaks, and transmission fluid is corrosive.

Manual transmissions last longer than automatic transmissions, primarily due to their simpler design and fewer moving parts. While manual transmissions may require more driver input and attention, their straightforward construction often translates to fewer points of potential failure and simpler, more cost-effective repairs.
Manual transmissions are made mostly of hardened steel components, while automatic transmissions must use less durable materials in their construction due to the nature of how they operate relying on friction and slippage. These less durable materials require replacement as they do not last as long.

A car with a manual transmission can set unused for decades, and generally start right up without issues, An Automatic transmission will seize up if it sits for an extended period of time, and many of it's internal components will have disintegrated due to corrosion, or oxidation.

>By their very nature automatic transmissions are just shit engineering. They are a solution looking fo a problem.
>Before getting murdered by amerijews manual transmissions were a fully realized and mature technology. A simple and elegant design that can take a hell of a beating and keep working.
>Literally the only reason to create a parallel technology was so that women and faggots could drive, too. Turning driving from a leisure activity and a convenience meant to reward men for their hard work, to congested roads and a hundred miles of parking lot for every fatass mcfaggot american. The standards for operating an automobile basically plummeted into the shitter as a result.
>All that said places like Europe where manuals are still popular have plenty of shit drivers. So a literal fucking monkey can figure out a manual transmission. But a physically competent monkey, at least.

When France was using slave labor in Vietnam to produce Latex, condoms were less expensive in europe, but relations between France and their Vietnamese slaves led to an uprising and outbreak of war. While US troops were successful in rescuing many of the French slave owners from certain death, those rubber plantations fell into the hands of communist who desperately needed condoms and were willing to die for them.

The French said ah who needs condoms, we'll just do anal sex instead. This led to AIDS outbreaks in the French plantations of Africa, where the slaves mined Uranium for most of Europe.

I drive on forest service roads a lot and it makes stopping quickly before hitting a fuck huge pot hole i didnt see a lot easier when i can decouple the engine and tranny and not fight the engine. Also going up loose gravely roads i have more control because the transmission wont go in and out of 2nd gear based on throttle.

I just ordered a new manual car. I'm very excited to start a new car build. It has been about 7 years. I've started ordering parts already. So far just wheels and suspension, but it will be another full out build.

I taught myself to drive stick after buying a stick car without knowing how to drive it. I went to an empty parking lot next to the dealership and spent the day there.
