Which is to have the store order a huge overstock when the publisher promises no cost buy back of unsold copies -- or a better split ( 50/50 to 25/75 ) or quick discount -- IE the profit split is 50/50 till 2 weeks in then the publisher only takes 25% then they can return unsold stock at the end of the month .

Its not about graphics it's motion fluidity. Tried playing totk on switch and couldn't past the tutorial area. Then played it on emulator at 4k60fps and suddenly I'm having a blast, game is so fucking good like that and I love that people can now experience that without emulation.

The Steam Deck's problem is that it occupies a niche of a niche that is enticing for very few people.

I haven't done deep research, but I was looking the other day and they were available in my area... I assume they'd sell a large number because of the amount of faggots reselling retail items.

You can probably sell out any such item if the resellers believe they can resell them. The PS5 on release was going for something like $1500 on ebay because of this practice. I'm considering buying one for my kid, but $500 for the base system, then $100 for another controller, and $80 for another game... seems like a lot of money and I may end up comparing that to the cost of upgrading the gaming pc or buying another gaming pc.

It's also a hard choice to make w\ other handhelds being out now like steamdeck or the asus rog. Those seem far superior to the switch 2 since you can play pc gaming titles and in all likelihood you can probably emulate switch 2 games not too far into the future.

Most people who bought a Switch 2 at this point are adults who had the money to burn and didn't do their due diligence, which is why they're left with a platform that has a shitty screen and crashes all the time.
That's something Nintendo achieved despite the alleged fact (from leakers) that they had finished motherboards sitting in warehouses back in 2022. They spent years being unable to get the software together and chose a worse screen than the Switch 1 had. 1080p, but too much blur and ghosting.

Nintendo is able to get away with making a hybrid console because people want to play their games and they at least try to incorporate meaningful gimmicks.
