The one thing normies hate are awkward silences. Since most of them have no inner monologue, silently being alone with their thoughts (or rather a lack thereof) is a scary thing to them. That's why they talk non-stop about all sorts of basic bullshit such as the weather or sportsball.

true

no
everyone has thoughts when they're idle, whether it takes the form of an inner monologue or not
i think they're just scared of their own thoughts more than anything
there wouldn't be anything scary about pure silence, but letting their thoughts and awareness of their situation begin to grow might be scary

This is why I think people constantly spend their time either being as busy as possible or planning how to be busy. They can't handle idle time because they start thinking and that's extremely uncomfortable and scary to them. I think mental illness is the human condition and I wonder if you can have intelligence without mental illness.

you hear about how one of the signs someone is being human trafficked is an extremely docile/submissive affect
i think it might be a much milder version of that
when you're forced into a position of no freedom for an extended period of time, your brain responds by reducing your level of consciousness, as a survival mechanism, so that you might eventually end up in a better position & be able to spread your genes
fucked up
