I first met this girl at work
We became good friends over our love of horror movies
She has ADHD and I have Autism so we basically get along great
I found out she had a ex girlfriend and straight up asked her what her sexuality was
She said

We became close but I didnt know her feelings towards me so when I asked her if she wanted to date she said no panicked and told me Im a great guy but she wont date me or anyone
Then I I fucked up my wording and panicked and said it was just that we hang out a ton and its a little weird and
we then had a call the next day where she told me she felt uncomfortable by my comment despite it being true and I apologized to her which she accepted and told her that I still want to be friends and Im just awkward and nervous at times and she told me she needed some space right now which I accepted
I then fucked up by contacting her for a dumb reason which I later apologized for
I then helped with a event that we planned that I couldnt back out of and despite me spending my entire day helping her and being chill with her friends she still wanted nothing to do with me
Our last talk was back in November where she got mad at me on the phone for not understanding her apparently and not getting it despite me telling her I truly care for her
She later texted me apologizing for being harsh but still wanted nothing from me anymore
This is all despite the past year of spending time together and me doing so much for her

You already said the answer. You should have ditched her as soon as she started pulling the "asexual" shit. As soon as she does that you move on to someone else and then she can figure out if she really wanted you or not and reach out to you asking you to come back. And if she doesn't you saved yourself the time and have already moved on.

I can't help you that much, OP. But thinking about moving on is the right decision whatsoever. Work on yourself, grow up and meet more people. Not as a "placebo", but rather as a way to indeed move on. I've been there before, it's the best. I've also lost many people many times, and barely had any contact with few of them many years later to finally be in good terms. Maybe this will happen to you, maybe not. Just accept what's coming and so be it

You know? something like you story happened to me this years, although backwards. The autistic girl and I had a little disagreement for something I consider important, but she just can't understand the whole spectrum. Long story short, I exposed to her my arguments, reminded her that I'm not trying to convince her or anything because it's up to her, and finally warned her that I'll be busy for the coming months, and so don't mind me if I don't reply soon
It's been months, and I know that she has been messaging me several times once in a while. I'm still busy and without motivation, in fact, I'm kind of different from the last time we talked. I don't want her to see me like this, so I'm trying to improve a bit before talking

Something like that happened to me with an ex. She talked ill about her "friends" at high school, and I was always there for her and stuff. However at her birthday she seemed to "forgive them" somehow, to not say that she only played along to receive their gifts. Even in the present I don't like birthdays, so I just returned home to not spend time with her and those "friends". We broke up when she returned from a school trip, and I was ok with that. After all the love faded away, and the fact that she claimed to have had a great time on the trip, with those "friends", after all the shit she said about them, and of course the issues they had with her, made me take the right decision

So yeah, OP, don't think that you're "special" to someone, until that's proved with facts and time
