I almost got solar in cali cause the catch is if you have no history on power usage you can put all the panels you want up, but as soon as the state “figures” how much power you need then they wont even let you build excess of that. I lived around redlands CA about a decade ago so could be different.
I needed a new roof and couldn't afford a roof+solar at the time. Electric rates went up high as fuck after that. Would have made out like a bandit.
Would have just gotten lucky though. Panel prices are closely tied to electricity rates, if you know/bet on rates going up a lot in whatever period of time you like, it can work out.
Also, gov’ts keep changing laws all the time to so its not necessarily guaranteed money long term if you’re trying to have the power company pay you. I always hear stories in hawaii or whatever random places where they just change shit up on people.
