i remember when i was like 11, my dad showed me this website for learning HTML, it had little challenges in stages
i got really into it, then got frustrated when i couldn't pass one of them & started crying
i remember my mom started screaming at my dad & i never looked at the site again

shit man

how did you cope with it at the time, if at all?
did you have any sort of outlet or like siblings to talk to or anywhere to run off to for a while?

This sentiment is more common than I thought. I was just reflecting on my lame life cuz my mom actually asked that last night.
Fr though I wish I had a hobby I enjoyed but nothing holds my interest no matter where I look and I'm convinced it's because my brain developed poorly because of that upbringing.

I didn't at the time. My sister was right there begging with me but she turned into a mom pleaser just to avoid ever making her upset ever again. We have an ok relationship now but back then I had to go to therapy after threatening to kill her with a kitchen knife. I blamed her greediness on a lot of problems but it was really my mom the whole time.

Around 12-13 I got heavily into computers as an escape and I'm "successful" now since I turned my hacking obsession into a cybersec career, but I'm a very fucked up person in the head. A lifetime of faking it though I'm pretty good at it and get along with people.

I've got weird issues I need to keep buried like I fucking HATE CHRISTMAS and shit like that.
