I don't know man. we have there's things called gray mackerel all, and they look a bit like some kinda pike or barracuda, with less teeth. we also got things we call cod and they look quite different from an atlantic cod, there's a species called scorpion cod here, it tastes amazing though it's extremely venomous if it's spines get you.

Ahh right they might not be actual mackrel then. Are u sure they arent Sierra mackrel? Those are quite Pike shaped. If not pls post a pic and the species name. I find marine biology very interesting
