Luckily, there's a lot of good indie developers and a lot of people that discover the indie games and support those too
The video game industry is actually doing good right now, imo. If you don't like triple A slop, then you have a lot of decent indie options, and if an indie game does good enough, then the developer makes money and keeps making more actual good games, and if not, then there's usually another developer that likes those kinds of games and continues where that developer left off
I don't think video games are dying, it's just triple A slop is filtering all the normalfags from the actual good games, although sometimes there are good triple A games, like Elden Ring or Grand Theft Auto V

As an oldfag who played FPS games in the 90s I can safely say that the good times are over.
Today you have games that are made for children where everybody is supposed to feel like a winner. If the game mechanics allows for you to completely defecate on your opposition the game will get nerfed because these little entitled shitters will go cry on reddit making it seem like it is the general consensus that weapon x should not be able to do x amount of damage because it hurts their feelings and "ruins the gameplay".
I have been chasing the dragon so to speak, trying to replicate the joy I used to feel as a teenager playing these types of games, nothing has ever come close, except in the case of Doom2k16 which was an amazing game in the multiplayer mode at launch, but of course the new generation was not familiar with the style, complained, weapons got nerfed and here we are, the game got abandoned by everyone including oldfags like me who would have kept it alive. Furthermore you have stupid executive decisions where they decide to not include classic game modes such as capture the fag because it competes with another product in their library thus messing up the entire feel of the game so instead they try to be creative and make new modes that they hype to the sky which is just hide and seek cosplay with a buttplug up your ass and then market it as something spectacular to gaming journalists (urinalists)

Oh and don't even get me started on gen-z and their relaxed attitude towards cheating.
