Jesus saves by grace alone, you receive His salvation by faith alone. Faith on what, you ask? Simply His superiority as God who came as man, lived a sinless life and died for you, versus you as the human who could never live that sinless life. Just as He died for you Unfairly, you receive eternal life not by merit but by unearned means, aka His death, burial, and resurrection.
Once a person realizes this truth and accepts it, they are saved permanently. This cannot be reversed as true belief seals the believer with the Holy Spirit.
This is the only way to make it to heaven. There is no other way and all other faiths outside of Christ lead to hell.
