RIP 4chan
Twitter basically seems to be the new 4chan
Moderation here is somehow stricter than on Twitter
Activity and OC is really slowing down here the past few years
This seems to be a Millennial site that has failed to cross generations
Makes me wonder where it all went wrong

entropy
slow decay
it happens with anything over time.
look at myspace, it may exist but it's no longer what it was by any measure.
either things adapt and they evolve or they get phased out.

twitter is the most anxious botted dark forest platform of all
it has the impression of being less dead but it's really not

you're kinda right about this

comparing it to twitter is interesting, but it's a mistake to use twitter imo

4chan is doomed to die because they wasted the opportunity to roll new software when it got hacked. Single digit file uploads, no audio on videos outside wsg/gif, bot infested hellhole, no custom boards for niche interests like on the altchans, no functional phone apps. This site is begging to be left behind in the dumpster. The owner and admins make attempt to invest or maintain the site so the userbase fucked off to places that are growing and active.

why go to 4chan when you can easily register an account on tiktok, upload nazi edits, get a perfectly curated fyp, gain followers and friends who share similar views, all the while you share your data with the Chinese government? similar thing with twitter, except you feed your data to Grok and X, and God knows where the data ends up next. either way, it seems like an ease of access type of thing. on 4chan, you have to hit a checkmark on "Auto" and find a suitable board, meanwhile on twitter you just like posts you find interest in, hit "post" and voila.

you literally sound like you're offering features in a boardroom
these are complaints about site features, not the sites themselves

>a Millennial site that has failed to cross generations

budd budddddd outside looking in

it all went wrong the second astroturfing happened, other than that I don't see this site being dead.

This site has more real activity than a lot of parts of reddit
Moot just doesn't wanna run ads so to avoid that he's basically running ads. Turning people away from the more active subs making them almost seem dead because it's ghost downs of astroturfing marketers replying to each other and themselves

most boards only have one guy astroturfing though

no one will buy an add and moot won put out real ones... maybe they wont let him but I bet X runs ads

you missed the entire point of the thread. it's about X (or, in my example, tiktok) becoming the same as 4chan. both platforms are very lax on their moderation, while giving the perception that the users are anonymous.

the amount of going out of your way for one goon on 4chan would not weigh as much as people wouldn't care and how much effort it would take. Unless the guy is doxxing himself (or someone else while pretending to be that person) it's pretty much impossible for the average normie to take someones anonymity away.

the apps you all named are much more censored, you can say just about anything here

you will get in trouble for dealing threads or boards, calling out astroturfing is breaking rule 8 but to say it's over moderated is a lie

look

> to goon on 4chan

>impossible to take someones anonymity away
that's the point, why use 4chin when you have other platforms which are easier to access where people don't care about anonymity

>the apps you all named are much more censored
methods are constantly created to bypass restrictions because people don't care about going to other websites.one of the bypasses is:
>፱፩፱፩፱፪፱፱፪፱፩፱፩፱፪፰፫፰፪፰፩፰፩፩፱፩፱፩፱፪
>your text here
>፱፩፱፪፰፪፰፰፪፰፩፯፪፰፪፰፪፰፪፰፩፯፯፩፱፩፱፩፱

going this far to make a comment like a child vs just staying on better websites

you said it had just as much moderation as xyz social media apps you named which i say it doesn't and those are overmodererated

>couldn't give two fucks about George Droid

I wouldn't expect an Indian marketer with a VPN to(no offense). But that wasn't the point I was making.

>you literally sound like you're offering features in a boardroom

The lack of features is why there is no generational crossover or life to this shithole now. On Twitter or even sites like ifunny you can watch Shitavious get his head blown off on bodycam footage with audio. On 4chan you have to go to some different board and shrink it down to 2mb in size then halfass link it in the thread, not just host the video directly. Its fucking stupid and nobody is willing to jump through hurdles like that now. 4chan is dying because its an early web 2.0 shitheap that hasn't been improved upon or maintained since moot was around.

I like being Anon especially in an age where they're trying to push online ID to create a police state. People already get fired and axed for social media post. It's flat out dumb to have any social media that is behind your real name if it isn't a virtue signal.

most people on x don't use their own names for that very reason

4chan is less censored the astroturfing makes me want to kill myself but at least I can say just about anything in any thread as long as I'm not derailing it or breaking rule 8

you're less of a product on 4chan and I don't have to go out of my way to cultivate a space. Here anyone can say anything anyone can say anything back.. that's kinda 4chan marketer.

I gave someone a pirating website I used the other day and said hey anon if I give this to you it has to be through discord I don't want fags getting the site taken down

> censorship
Playing the devil's advocate here, most people don't care since the fyp/algorithm does the job to promote whatever they want, and they can always create new accounts as I said before
>vs just staying on better websites
Again, most people on X/TikTok don't care, they appreciate the algorithm and friendships more than anonymity, especially since the FYP recommends similar posts
>as much moderation as xyz social media apps
Sure, I'll agree that the platforms I mentioned are more moderated than 4chan, but that doesn't cancel out the drive for the people to stay on those platforms rather than to move to 4chan
>I wouldn't expect an Indian marketer with a VPN to(no offense)

this place died around 2012, infinitychan was the replacement then it got nuked. Now all we have is this ultra honey pot left over of a site and im just here out of habit. I like the format. The lack of upvotes, likes, whatever signaling incentives is what I like most. All other sites favor crowd/mob mentality even if those crowds are subdivided into smaller groups. It just favors group/hivemind bullshit. If I am looking for outlier signals it wont show up in that type of format.
