That's how the process works anon. Both work together to use medication and applied therapy to give you the tools to fix yourself. Sometimes you can just go to DBT and take some Xanax but you need both to progress. The medication gives you the clarity of mind to engage in therapy and introspection without the burden of your illness or trauma. If the meds aren't doing that for you get a new psychiatrist. Your insurance has tons of them in network.

Hypocritical? Not at all. I speak from a place of great mental stability after years of self therapy. Am I perfect? No. I have things I'm still working on but I don't need medication or a therapist to progress. It's not that overwhelming anymore.
I also have a psych degree so I can identify the kind of people struggling. There's a lot here in bant.
Of everyone here I'd say I'm easily the most healthy. I have a job, a positive outlook on life, a wife, friends and fulfilling hobbies that give me purpose. In addition to all that I still work on the little things internally slowly putting to rest the demons that have haunted me from my past.
I did it. Yall can too. The only reason you would advocate against therapy is if you have a personal irrational bias.
