Ham Radio
I've been interested in Ham Radio for over a year now. I really like the tech behind it and how everything works, but never applied for the license and never bought a ham radio as well. Recently I'm really tempted to apply for the license, but upon further research, I think it's not what I want. When you are licensed in ham radio, your info is open for everyone else to see. My name and address are my main concerns. So I think I won't apply for the license. There's stuff like encrypted DMR that I can use to communicate whilst staying anonymous. As long as I respect the rules and regulations and don't contact the global ham user, I think there's no need to apply for ham radio license. Just my 2 cents.

I didn't even know you still needed a licence to operate one. I remember as a kid a lot of cars had them and people used to fool around on them while driving, yes before 4chan and the internet aussies would shitpost via radio and telex machine.

If you are sorta techy you can just get a SDR that you plug into your laptop and can listen to a enormously wide range and can do shit like receive satellite transmission as well as a bunch of other cool stuff. And also look into meshtastic which is encrypted text chat with kilometers of range and a network that will propagate your messages.
Both are license-less even in my place where the law is very butthurt about fun things.

I've had my license for years and I've never tired of it.
