Is smoking really that bad?
For as long as I lived, I grew up with parents and friends telling me how cigarettes are evil and will kill me in a few years of using them, but I always wondered why I had so many old relatives addicted to smoking, shouldn't they be dead? Previous generations also smoked a lot, why are they still alive? After looking it up, I also found out they increase testosterone and help you lose weight, but not without said articles stressing to me how that's a just a rumour, how it has side effects, and overall an almost artificial effort to stop me from thinking it has any benefit whatsover. The only real bad part that I could verify by myself is the bad smell, is this smoking outrage complete bullshit?

Smoking gives me a bloody cough and i don't want to spend so much money on something that is so unhealthy, but i admit it looks cool as fuck. Like, in fight club. It gives aura and has a certain vibe. If there were healthy cigarettes i'd smoke

Cigarettes have arsenic, cadmium, formaldehyde, benzene, lead, ammonia and cyanide in them. They're incredibly toxic and prematurely kill two thirds of people that smoke them. Smoke them if you're retarded, nobody will stop you. But all the information about how dangerous they are is out there for you to read or ignore at your peril

this. "le smoking is bad" is a big pharma (((psyop))).

That said, I'm dubious about the dementia claim - in this case, correlation doesn't really prove causation. If you have dementia, at some point you're going to forget that you want to smoke, and nobody's gonna remind you. So you quit but don't know that you've quit.

If you want to smoke, avoid packed cigs, roll your own and keep it at 1 cig a day.
I don't think there's any health benefit to smoking but you can certainly minimize the damage it causes by choosing good paper and nice tobacco, a pipe is also good.

Short answer yes

Long answer:

it ruins your skin
it gives you cancer
it stinks up everything
it fucks with your circulation=heart attack
it literally gives you a higher does of radiation than a scan or working at a power plant or being part of the iss crew (most people dont even know smoking gives you radiation)

and you pay with your money for all that on top of everything

All the health benefits of nicotine can be aquired through chewing nicotine gum. Thinking that you need to inhale straight poison to boost your t is pantshittng retarded. Smoking is just an aesthetic on the right, guys think it makes them look tough and masculine, like how leftists grow beards to hide the weak chins.

I have the same opinion, basically.
Cigs have been demonized to Hell and back but people in France used to drink like motherfuckers and smoke non stop and they built one of the best civilization ever and they didn't really die faster.
I smoke inside with the windows closed. Smoking is a pleasure for me so I'm not gonna do it in the cold outside like a dog peeing. I smoke inside, while watching my favorite movies or playing my favorite bideos and my walls have never became yellow (everybody says : "dude, the walls stink and they become yellow") and the room smells good.

Then again I smoke maybe one cig a day, sometimes not at all.

>relieves anxiety

It GIVES me anxiety (for like 10 mins), always has. That's why I usually only smoke in social situations, where there's enough stimulation to distract me, or alcohol to mitigate the anxiety. Cigs only feel really good when I have some downer to suppress the anxiety. Or when I'm on the move, and then it's just a mindless habbit, that doesn't even seem to have any effect, other than giving me something to do while walking/waiting and maybe make me look cool.

Amohetamine makes me hyperfocused and also anxious, and I just end up procrastinating on some bullshit, but really hard and really long (unless it makes me euphoric, but this leads to hours of walking around in circles and self-talk in my head, followed by enthusiastic hyperfocus on some bullshit). Same story with caffeine (less intense, obviously), also sweat-city.

Only cocaine or to a lesser degree ritalin/methylphenidate make me focused without giving me anxiety, and only in low doses (and in the case of cocaine, only lab-tested stuff with high purity and no noticable psychoactive residues/impurities/cuts).

Opiates were god-tier for anxiety, focus and overall energy. At least if the tolerance is kept in check, but obviously it will zapp your motivation and make you emotionally numb, long term. So also no solution (obviously).

Is there anyone here, that can identify/identify *with* this "pattern" of physical/psychological responses and provide some kind of protip from their own experience or medical/pharmacological expertise?

I smoke imported cloves. Theyโ€™re about as expensive as the regular cigs here that arenโ€™t the cheap stuff. I like them because I prefer the sweet taste of clove tobacco compared to just bitter tobacco but then I sometimes want that bitterness so in the end I always get bored of smoking. The nicotine buzz doesnโ€™t do a lot for me, makes me kinda sleepy. I started smoking for fun after 27 so I believe I canโ€™t get addicted. Now Iโ€™m almost 31, I usually smoke 1-2 cigs a day if I donโ€™t force myself to do it.
