I find the fights over the identity of /qa/ incredibly funny. Even its rotting corpse has already become nothing but memories, you don't really have to fight over the past of a place that no longer exists. Yet the fight still exists. Granted, it might mainly occur on the least relevant quarters of the internet, but the fact that people still feel the need to post almost decade-old screenshots of barely relevant casual conversations is incredibly amusing.
I side with the offsite faggots as I hate the other offsite faggots, but these debates are so fruitless that they become fascinating. Who has the right to write the history of /qa/? Who will write the story of /qa/ on internet history books in fifty years? That's a question that fascinates me.

You have people on pissu that defend /qa/ as this sort of unique experiment of promoting traditional imageboard culture in a late 2010s context where this culture was all but dead. You have people that would defend that /qa/ is just the end result of a worksafe /b/.
What is the truth? It's hard to say. Why do people even fight over the legacy of this dead board?
It goes even further than that. How does someone establish a canonical history for 4chan? You could look into social media, where myths abound; you could look into academia, the source of so much mystification over 4chan. And you could look into 4chan itself, and this thread specifically, that prides itself into being the guardian of 4chan history, by chronicling all relevant events, in the very manner of a medieval chronicler. I mean, the bibanon timeline is basically an epic text. It's an epic chronicle; and yet many people would see it, and defend it, as the most reliable and complete source on the history of 4chan. And seeing this epic chronicle, this work as much of literary prowess as of internet storytelling, as a reliable source on the past, would leave any newfag with the impression that he knows more about 4chan history than fucking moot.
I have defended on the past that someone should really do some YouTube videos narrating the bibanon timeline. Someone replied that they had already done that, but when I checked their work, it lacked a bit of the epic character that the bibanon narrative has.
