Its the name of the lake but also means lake and the lake is so big they named the whole country after it.
Its 1,000,000 km2

Thats the size of the lake bed though Its mostly dried up now, stupid niggers managed to waste an incomprehensible amount of water.

it's not all their fault but maybe yeah

environmental regulations by first world countries regulate away all of the intermediate steps required for a country to industrialize, since the people in power at the time want things to stay exactly how they are
except that keeps third world countries in the toilets they're in & makes them dependent on us to feed their growing populations, which eventually shifts the balance of power anyway

fuck i dunno, maybe none of this relates to this specific lake & its overuse
i don't know the history
Anonymous (ID: El5ZHLnv) United States No.23290391 [Report]

there was also a reduction in rainfall and a massive drought in the 70s that contributed to that but yeah dumb niggers amirite

Yeah its not random ppl just trying to lives fault most of it was industrial but that's because African leaders made deals with the devil (mega corps and countries like China, north Korea, russia) in return for short term gain when europeans gave them independence.
That map is of the specific lake and related to its overuse by the way

Its still mismanagement. You don't deplete water reserves like that during droughts.
Do not think for a second that this isn't largely the fault of retarded politicians

it's roughly 50% from reduced rainfall/drought and 50% from irrigation. but it's pretty dumb to say "lol just don't use water" when there were 4 countries with rapidly growing populations that shared the lake. what did you expect them to do? just halt their economies and starve?
Anonymous (ID: W3M9QYgF) United Kingdom No.23290467 [Report]
>>23290449
No I just think it would've been nice if the ppl in charge had made SOME effort rather than ramping up industrial activity which continued the population exlosion to accelerate when they already knew the lake was drying up.
Instead they only cared about lining their pockets and largely destroyed one of the continents greateat natural wonders
