Now, her four cats carry her legacy in Miami. In a way, they were her children, her confidants, her tiny lion-hearted soulmates. They will be cared for and loved, just as she would’ve wanted. And every time they curl up in the sun or stare out the window with that ancient feline gaze, I’ll see her in them—quiet, powerful, curious, and full of mystery.

I will miss her every day. I already do.

But I also know this: she wouldn’t want us to sit too long in sorrow. She’d want us to take a deep breath (unless you’re allergic), hug a cat, eat a plant-based meal, and live with the same fearless passion she carried in every step.
