how are people so good at taking about stuff?
they must walk around all day thinking of fake conversations and reactions to common questions

i think there's ways to compensate, atleast
or that's what helped for me
like if you make yourself superficially inoffensive, and you don't look anxious, and you make eye contact & all that, and people see you as receptive/good-intentioned, they'll accept you being shy or awkward
especially if they realize you have other things to offer, or have things in common, they'll become more comfortable/playful

this sounds like generic crap advice i guess, but it's what worked at my highschool
i guess finding a good/worthwhile environment & social group to weasel into is a big part of it

I don't want to be friends with people like that, I'm just more confounded about how people have a take on everything and say it even if it's retarded

Practice, best to practice with real people not imaginary conversations.

oh i see
>have a take
are you sure they do?
i mean, maybe they're just doing a stream of consciousness very charismatically
the substance often doesn't matter, just how good the rhetoric is
idk

I've had a lot of practice debating myself in the shower.

yeah something like that. a lot of times it's a thick layer of humor and sympathy on top of something with very little substance.
for instance, being frustrated about not being able to find paper towels in the house. Some people turn that into a comedy routine by saying a certain combination of words and gesturing with the body.
whereas I'd be focused on checking the cabinets and stuff

I do this but instead of common questions I imagine conversations about random philosophical things I'm interested in, mostly as a way to ponder and reach conclusions, so I could school someone on random political and cultural subjects, but if someone were to ask me "how are you" Idk how tf to respond.
