>>23493153
>>23493511
No, gold itself didn't fluctuate in value! That's the key point.
What really happened:
The red spikes downward (e.g., -50% or more) show that the Papiermark temporarily GAINED value - meaning it stabilized or even appreciated briefly.
Think of it this way:
Red spike upward = The Mark loses massive value that month (need much more Marks to buy gold)
Red spike downward = The Mark stabilizes or even gains value (need less/same amount of Marks for gold)
Gold remained relatively stable - it was the Papiermark that fluctuated wildly.

Yeah, for now... I am losing my mind here trying to understand how the gold 50% move during the coof made the juniors all x10-x20, but the 170% gold move these past two years only made then go up like 100%, lmfao hahaha. What the fuck even is going on with this market why aren't the junior shitcos with millions of oz in the ground all x10. Should have just bought AEM and LUG and forgot about the juniors... And here i was thinking if AEM goes up 300% the juniors will be up 1000%.

that was an insane asylum pump. Everything gigapumped during the coof, and once the markets stabilized and people regained confidence they dumped gold and bought basically literally anything else

also the fact that we haven't seen a retarded move like that since 2024 when the bull market started should inspire confidence that this time we're actually still early

this isn't a very impressive achievement, pretty sure most 1Moz reserves are worth that at $4k gold. At a more conservative long term $3k gold price you need a solid 2Moz reserve for a $1B NPV8-10%. The market is right to keep ignoring poor assets, but capital will for sure trickle into the shittiest of shitcos too before the cycle ends.

We should expect to see consistent outperformance from Whitecap going forward. The Veren merger was godlike, Veren had consolidated some of the best liquids-rich acreage in the Montney and Duvernay right next door to Whitecap and their share price had been hammered due to unsuccessful D&C design causing poor well results. Whitecap had better management but more gassy acreage, Veren had the opposite. Match made in heaven

lol true, silly name. But they wanted to wipe the slate clean since they were firmly in the market's penalty box due to their history. The corporate transformation CPG/VRN managed to do after 2020 was nothing short of masterful. They ditched subscale assets, consolidated tier 1 acreage at a reasonable price, and even improved from prior operators' well results. Amazing M&A integration. Then they got smacked down hard after an unsuccessful PnP completions design for a single pad. lmao. The assets are in better hands with Whitecap and the valuation discount should evaporate under proper management.

I am worried to read in the Q3 report that they want to pilot PnP designs at Gold Creek and Karr again though. Must be the Veren board members still hung up on the idea. To their credit if it works out they should unlock a lot of value. I have PnP PTSD.

Here's an interesting paragraph: the first lithium extraction facility from produced water from oil wells is coming online in 2027. Should this work, more would surely pop up. Lithium production last year globally was 240kt, this facility is set to produce 3ktpa from 70,000 barrels per day of produced water. Meaningful supply effect for lithium markets and upstream producers' margins if these projects end up being successful. Why own Albemarle when you can just own Exxon lol

I saw Gary Savage at a gay bathhouse in San Francisco yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him to reopen subscriptions to his newsletter or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued back to my room, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to the front desk to buy some lube, I saw him trying to walk away with like fifteen bottles of PrEP in his hands without paying.

The twink at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first Gary kept pretending to be tired and not hear him, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When the twink took one of the bottle and started scanning it multiple times, Gary stopped him and told him to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After he scanned each bottle and put them in a bag and started to say the price, Gary kept interrupting him by yawning really loudly and saying that $100 silver by January will be a piece of cake.

massively overvalued compared to peer companies (wannabe smr designers without a functional design or business plan) benefitting from absurd etf inflows. will likely stay that way as nuclear sentiment grows in the US. news about inconsequential deals like the 10 microreactors for military bases will pump the memestocks further and faster than legitimate companies.

I hate that. The more I learn about the US stock market the more I realize that they have the most retarded investors in the USA who have regressed mentally as a result of a neverending everything bull market since the 70s. Seeing the US investors gigapumping everything into way overvalued territory just because it's trendy makes me mad. We're out here weathering years-long bear markets and having to take calculated risk to make good money over time, and then some shitco AI stock goes 10x in mere weeks because lol AI

even the commodity sector isn't safe from US investors' retardation. Your US company has uranium or rare earths in the name? That's a fivebagger on no news or fundamentals. Trump permitted a road for a copper project? Boom, triple that shit right into its NPV10% before it's even close to production.

I long for the day I get to see a real bear market in the US stock market. Not because it would be good for me, it wouldn't, but I just want to see these stupid niggers suffer for once.

If you're referring to retailers, then this is inevitable at some point. They will always be the baggies. Funds will happily facilitate them all the way down. I'd welcome a general bear market.

I honestly don't know if it's retail or institutional buying that causes insane +100-200% a day moves on trendy news like the ones we have seen in AI, REEs, copper etc. It's probably both. There's so much credit available in the US stock market, moves like that are only possible because of credit. I know because I myself use a lot of margin nowadays myself. It's not something you ever really see in Canada or Europe. Chink stocks do seem to share in that US stock market characteristic though, you sometimes see some batshit insane pumps in China.

I view pumps as liquidity events for insiders.
>CEO's buddy has $20M in seed shares he wants to cash in
>CEO approaches (big name) and makes arrangement for a shout out
>(Cramer/Bar Stool/Rick Drule) mentions the company then shorts it
>Retards pile in because (big name) said

I'm not talking about those kinds of pumps. I'm talking about sentiment or news driven pumps. Like where TMQ went up 3x in one day after Trump permitted a road to their to-be mine. Or the insane whipsaw in NAK whenever the news suggest the project might or might not get approval eventually. Or valueless AI infra stocks like OKLO gigapumping into a hilarious $20B valuation despite having no revenues or even a realistic prospect of revenues anytime soon.

as if that would ever happen lol. The resource stocks I invest in are usually at worst within five years of cash flows, and I would never even expect seeing a $20B price tag let alone a $10B price tag on one of these pre-revenue developers. It's just an insane number to put on a company so far from any cash flows, even after commissioning most of the stocks I invest in won't be worth dozens of billions. I don't see why a power plant developer years away from having a power plant should get such a valuation

The fact is that mining stocks peaked simultaneously with boomer virility. All you'll see now are a few stuttering Viagra -induced orgasms. Join the dark side, Pekka, and save your capital for when it's time to short the sector.

Let me walk you through a comparable to help you understand how silly this shit is.

Like, I mean OKLO has no power plants at the moment and they are planning one nuclear power plant in the next few years. Their Aurora project has an experimental SMR design with a low 75MW capacity plant if this stuff even works out. Experimental, pre-revenue, speculative, 75MW capacity to start with in like three years at the earliest. You'll get that for the low low price of $20B.

Let's compare that to CGN Power, China's largest nuclear power provider. They are operating 28 nuclear power plants, with a total capacity excluding 31GW, and they have seven more units under construction and nine more units with approvals to build. CGN's nuclear capacity by 2027 (when OKLO will potentially have their teensy 75MW plant commissioned at the earliest) will exceed 37GW. And even beyond nuclear energy, they also have 45GW of installed solar and wind capacity with more to come as well. What's CGN Power's Enterprise Value you ask? ...about $50B.

>The power plant idea is currently more appealing than a modelled hole in the ground.
"Appealing" is a major understatement. You can piss your money away buying less than 0.1GW of capacity due in two or three years for $20B when you could make a real investment into an established company with a power capacity nearing 100GW for only about 2.5x the price. Either one is overvalued or the other is undervalued. It's not difficult to see which is the case. And that's my fucking point, US investors are pants on head retarded with their constant overvaluations across the board. There's very little value on the long side in US markets it seems

That's the worst part. Shit like this is hazardous to short too because the US market is so fundamentally separated from reality. what do you guys think about the SM/Civitas merger? Civitas has ass acreage in the Midland basin but their DJ acreage looks alright. I'm totally out of the loop with these two companies. Needless to say I'm not a fan of either but I'm interested in your opinion as shareholders.

SM is the better performing company compared to CIVI
CV tried tonfix their business and the merger is them trying to stay financially relevant, shareholders of both companies sold the news
I like SM but the shareholders dont care about my opinion
SM has a hogh debt, with higher oil prices this company is a cash cow, (it is right now) but not attractive with such high debt I can imagine, its a higher oil and gas price gamble and with wti in a down trend this company gets sold too

>its a higher oil and gas price gamble
Many such cases. Sad!
I would imagine SM shareholders sold because they notice the stinky Midland acreage of CIVI. And maybe the CIVI shareholders are selling because of the debt? I don't know what kind of track record these two companies have but something tells me they have not been very successful with debt adjusted per share value creation. Just looking at the charts I mean. Their acreage also isn't anything super impressive, that's also a reason I'm not interested in these two.
