It will take at least 10 years, maybe slightly less in the most optimistic scenarios, for quantum computing to get to the point of making BTC obsolete. 10 years is plenty of time to make life changing money. Do these people just hate money or something?

At 50k I would have only seen about 2x return. I don’t have a ton of disposable income so at most I would have made like $1k over a few years. Not worth it. Its like a high stakes poker game for the rich, not something I can expect to win at.

Dull.

Bitcoin has no purpose, it is a new thing, a trustless intangible ledger, and can be used for new things.

We can use btc for at least two priceless functions:
1) We can encode the price of money into btc via aggregate demand for “economic unit”, in doing so creating a Trustless Price Signal of Money, i.e. THE economic reference point. This massively increases the efficiency of economic calculation.

2) Trustless intangible Store of Value: Physical goods require active force simply to maintain ownership, trust-based assets require trusted third parties to operate them. Storing abstract economic value in either enables negative sum actors to parasite as NSAs can specialize exclusively in force. With a trustless intangible SoV we can guarantee voluntary exchange in-the-limit as btc can be made prohibitively expensive to seize (multi-sig, Shamir backup) and is infinitely more resistant to seizure by default

Bitcoin is already quantum proof as long as you follow decade old SOP and don’t reuse addresses, addresses are hashes of public keys not the keys themselves, you can’t crack a wallet (even with infinite compute) without the public-key, which isn’t exposed until spending.

We're already living in one. Real inflation (food, land, ultra luxury categories) is doubling every five years they just cook the inflation numbers by adding in dragon dildos and TVs.

Bitcoin could be sitting at a million dollars ten years from now and it will only feel like it's at 150k today.

Fuck, I was a lot younger and making less but Bitcoin at 20k in 2018 or whenever it topped out there felt like so much more money than Bitcoin at 110k today. I remember back then thinking 500k would be enough to make it now it's going to take 5m. And assuming I ever hit 5 million the new number will be 20m.

Monero was a good idea but was deemed too dangerous by (((them))). I doubt it will ever outpace Bitcoin now, we are lucky enough Bitcoin is being allowed. It's only because the elites realize the dollar is cooked and want to retain their wealth just as much as we do. If there were better options for them without having to share the rewards with us we wouldn't be allowed to own Bitcoin either.

Chainlink was good for flipping into more Bitcoin but I'm pretty sure you have to be clinically retarded to still believe in it at this point. It's almost lower than ICO price.in Bitcoin value. I say this as a clinically retarded ICP baggie that thought he'd at least get a 2020 era chainlink pump to convert into Bitcoin at some point.

>I remember back then thinking 500k would be enough to make it now it's going to take 5m.
I remember that as well, back in 2016 or so I recall planning out my savings out for several decades and how I'd be able to retire comfortably with 500k in the bank at age 40 if I saved diligently. I think my monthly expenses were around 2k back then, and i was like if inflation sticks to 3% and the s&p keeps returning 8% this should work out. It's 9 years later, my standard of living is basically unchanged but now my monthly expenses are 4k and living off of a 500k nest egg sounds like a ridiculous pipe dream. Life got 100-150% more expensive in the last decade and we're just supposed to pretend it's always been this way.

Theft is still theft. The research int/corp/state that develops a functional QC would suffer irreversible harm to their reputation if they stole satoshi’s coins and dumped them on the open market. Yet even under the lawless hypothetical where such brazen theft does not turn the perpetrator into a pariah, the action would not break bitcoin but instead provide the buying opportunity of a lifetime.

In reality of course, powerful QCs would simply cause a fork that no longer recognizes spent wallets as valid.

You are misunderstanding both the nature of gold and Bitcoin. Another reason why laymen shouldn't write about subjects that are way past their levels. In the first picture you are referring to the LHC that "transformed" lead into gold. This is mostly false as the atoms themselves are not stable and decay in microseconds. There is no known process that can produce gold in any meaningful way. This event was used for click-baity articles, completely ignoring the fact that the gold atoms are gone in an eyeblink.

As for Bitcoin, no machines are required to alter the scarcity of BTC. What you need is consensus. Moreover and funny enough, Bitcoin can exist without machines. SHA256 can be computed by hand (pen and paper) and you can transact via mail delivery with printed QR codes.
