There's no mattress that fit all bodies perfectly and one that helps regulate your sleeping temperature is objectively better for health. Your pic is a toy for richfags to brag about

A decade ago, I put a very isolating/warm blanket on top of my mattress, and the occasional back pain I had vanished. I even have it in the summer, I just use a thin blanket then.

This is correct. With just about everything you move up the scale you go:

>Shitty absolute dog shit
>Shitty but it works (Taco Bell)
>Decent (your nice hole in the wall)
>Better, it's got better features and materials, idk if it's worth it but whatever
>Arguably better, there's things that arguably make it better about this thing but it's kinda a flex (Michelin meal)
>Pure dick swinging with the most expensive shit imaginable just to make it arguably cost that much, (gold flakes on your food, stupidly pricey alcohol on your ice cream, cheese aged 30 years) etc etc

This shit is in the last category.

I splashed the cash on a £3000 mattress a little while back, it’s great but I reckon it’s right at the top end of what’s worth paying before you get into all the richfag shit which does very little to actually improve the product. It still has many thousands of pocket springs, both sides topped so it’s fully turnable, umpteen layers of natural materials including plenty of horsehair (which, for some reason, is what every mattress manufacturer swears by), even hand fucking stitching.past that the only things you seem to be paying for are brand name, salesman’s commission, and marketing budgets.

I'm gonna buy the schizo latex mattress from that guy who figured out the fire retardant slip they put over mattresses is just a way for them to sell you cancerous industrial waste.
His doesn't need the slip (required by law on all mattresses) because he sells you the 3 mattress pieces and you zip them up yourself.

keep doing it
I spent an irrational amount of money to functionally sleep on the floor... off the floor. Essentially a glorified box platform.
Fixed my back issues, and I finally have energy again.
You're already ahead of the game. Don't let vain luxury take what you have away. 'Normal' does not mean right nor good.

>I sleep on a thick blanket on the floor
I sleep on a thin hospital blanket that I took with me back in my army days. It's a great summer blanket since it's warm enough in the nights but breathable enough to be cooling.

Mattresses hurt my back.

They are actually the best, but are the opposite of 'luxurious'. They push back harder the more you push into them which makes them fantastically supportive and good for your back, but you have to give up chasing that memory foam weightless 'sleeping on a cloud' feeling that most beds market so hard. They also jiggle a LOT so motion transfer can be a concern, although talalay latex is a good deal better than dunlop in that regard.

If you can find a 9-12" talalay mattress with one of those meme 180 day return policies you should give it a shot (quite possible these easy returns no longer exist for latex though since latex is a premium material).

>They also jiggle a LOT
What, no? Mine jiggles basically not at all. It's heavy as shit so it absorbs nearly all the energy. Better than foam or a spring.

>opposite of luxurious

Well they're heavy as fuck and pretty expensive unless you look for a place that doesn't have a big marketing budget.
